Feedback from INFORMS 2017

The 2017 INFORMS Annual Meeting took place on 22-25 October 2017 in Houston, Texas.
Qichen Deng from Delft University of Technology gave a presentation entitled "An Approximate Dynamic Programming (ADP) Approach for Aircraft Maintenance Scheduling".

The idea and method developed in AIRMES and presented during the event is relatively new to aviation industry. The fellow delegates questioned, among other things, about ways to deal with uncertainty and validation of optimized A-check and C-check schedule. Several participants from academia and industry were interested in having access to the AIRMES presentation.

The A-check and C-check scheduling optimization was presented in the session of Airline Schedule Design. There were 3 other presentations in this session:

  • Robust Airport Stand Allocation, presented by Mr. Bert Dijk from Beontra
  • Integrated Timetable Development and Fleet Assignment Model Incorporating Passenger Choice, presented by Dr. Vikrant Vaze from Dartmouth College
  • Multi-stage Airline Scheduling Problem with Stochastic Passenger Demand and Non-cruise Times, presented by Ms. Ozge Safak from Bilkent University.
